Robot Control Camel Racing of Arabia

Camel racing is a really popular sport throughout the Arab world, and owning a heard of specially-bred fast camels is apparently considered a symbol of wealth and power. But it’s not the animals we should be talking about, it's their weird-looking robot jockeys.

The jockeys are remote controlled by operators driving in cars along the racing tracks, and they whip the camels at the touch of a button.

This year, Dubai police uncovered a gang of dealers who were selling electric stun-gun kits for robots, designed to make the camels run even faster. They were fitted inside the robots and delivered electric shocks by remote control in order to get an edge over the competition.

The most expensive racing camel, a breeding female, was bought in Abu Dhabi, for $2.5 million, even more than the world’s most expensive sheep.
